Today, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and her husband, Nick Jonas, officially revealed their daughter to the public. Malti Marie’s face was shown to the media and fans for the first time just weeks after she turned one.
The Jonas Siblings’ Walk of Fame ceremony was attended by artist Nick Jonas and his brothers Kevin and Joe. Danielle Jonas and Sophie Turner, Kevin and Joe’s wives, were also seen posing for a group photo.
Malti was photographed perched on her mother’s lap at the occasion.
Last year, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas welcomed Malti via surrogacy.
Ms Chopra, who has been in Hindi films such as Don and the English TV series Quantico, has previously uploaded images of Malti without disclosing her face.
One image of Ms Chopra with Malti’s face turned away from the camera sparked debate on the internet. One person even accused the actor of exploiting her daughter as a “prop”. Many commenters questioned why she had her daughter in her photos if she didn’t want to disclose her face. But admirers backed her and claimed it’s her “right and decision”.
Ms Chopra added in an interview with British Vogue that comments on Malti were unacceptable. She says she’s grown a thick skin to what people say about her, but it’s “wrenching” when it’s about her daughter.
