Intel 13th generation laptop CPUs released : The HX series offers a maximum frequency of 5.6 GHz and up to 24 cores.
After releasing its Raptor Lake desktop CPUs in 2022, Intel later announced its 13th generation HX-series laptop CPUs at CES 2023. The new HX Series CPUs feature up to 24 total cores, 8 performance cores, 16 efficiency cores, and a maximum frequency of 5.6 GHz on the P-cores. They are aimed at gamers and creative. The Core i9-13980HX, according to Intel, is the world’s fastest mobile processor.
The performance of the i9-13980HX has improved by 49% for multi-threaded work and by 11% for single-threaded work. It supports up to DDR5 5600 memory, 32MB L3 cache, 16 lanes of PCIe 5.0, and up to four Thunderbolt 4 connectors. The base power of the new HX CPUs is 55W, and the maximum turbo output is 157W. The i5-13450HX CPU has 10 total cores, 6 of which are performance cores and 4 are efficiency cores.
Along with the HX-series, Intel unveiled a new H-series family of processors for “Enthusiast Laptops” that can have up to 14 cores, including 6 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores, with a 45W base power output.
New P and U-series processors from Intel were also introduced for thin and light laptops. The more powerful P-series machines have up to 24MB L3 cache and 28W power envelopes, with 12 and 14 core configurations.
The U-series CPUs have a base power of 15W and up to 10 cores with 12MB L3 cache.
The release of new laptops equipped with Intel’s 13th generation CPUs has already been confirmed by Lenovo, Asus, Dell, HP, Acer, MSI, Razer, Samsung, and other laptop OEMs.
