One of the most viewed athletic events in the world is the FIFA World Cup; in 2018, around 3.6 billion people watched the competition.
The 22nd FIFA World Cup Championship, which will include 32 teams from around the world, will get underway in Qatar on November 20.
The teams who will be competing against one another this year are listed together with their most recent FIFA pre-tournament rankings in this Athul Alexander graphic.
The Ranks of the 32 Qualifying Teams
The 211 FIFA association member teams are compared using the FIFA World Ranking. They make an effort to gauge the development and present skill of each national football squad.
The number of games a team has won and how “valuable” those successes were—in large tournaments or against formidable foes, for example—are just two of the variables used to calculate the ranking.
High-ranking teams do not, however, automatically qualify for the World Cup. Instead, rankings are utilised for seeding in regional qualifying tournaments because each region (also known as a “confederation”) only has a limited number of spots.
This implies that many lower-ranked teams ultimately qualify for the World Cup instead of higher-ranked teams. The most notable illustration of this for 2022 is Italy’s national squad, which finished sixth and didn’t make it.
Brazil holds the top spot with 1841.30 points. The South American squad has won five World Cups in total, in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, and 2002, setting a record for most victories.
Belgium comes in second place overall with 1816.71 points. Belgium has never won the World Cup, but in 2018 they advanced to the semifinals and finished third.
The Eight Groups for 2022

The FIFA World Cup tournament’s seeding system also takes into account each team’s ranking when it qualified for the competition.
Based on the teams’ FIFA Rankings, the association initially divides them into four pots. After that, teams are chosen at random from each pot to form groups.
Except for Europe, which has two additional spaces, groups can only have two teams from a single area.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the bracket round after these groups face off against one another in the first round of the competition.
With the exception of 1942 and 1946, when it was postponed due to World War II, the FIFA World Cup has been held every four years since 1930.
What can we anticipate for this year? Brazil has a 15/4 chance of taking home the trophy this year, even though it’s technically anyone’s game, according to bet365.
